2020/2021 CHINA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INSURANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT (CICIRM 2020/2021)

ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

The 11th China International Conference on Insurance and Risk Management (CICIRM 2020/2021) will be held on July 14-17, 2021 at Heilongjiang Sun Island Garden Hotel (also called ACFTU Model Worker Harbin Center for Skills Exchange) in Harbin, capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.

 

Given the ongoing uncertainty presented by the COVID-19 epidemic situation, the CICIRM 2020/2021 will be held both online and offline. Contributions are welcome!

 

The conference is jointly organized by Tsinghua University’s China Center for Insurance and Risk Management (CCIRM) and the Cass Business School of City University, London, and hosted by Northeast Agricultural University College of Economics and Management. Following successful meetings in Xining (2010), Beijing (2011), Qingdao (2012), Kunming (2013), Shenzhen (2014), Hangzhou (2015), Xi’an (2016), Guilin (2017), Baoding (2018) and Chengdu (2019), this year’s CICIRM will again provide China’s premier annual forum for international communication and cooperation in the studies of insurance, risk management, and actuarial science.

 

CICIRM attendees will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished speakers, exchange ideas with leading international researchers, present recent academic and practical research in parallel sessions, and discuss the latest academic and practical research on current importance within the field of insurance, risk management, and actuarial science. Over the past ten years, numerous distinguished researchers have served as keynote speakers, including: Howard Kunreuther (University of Pennsylvania), Sharon Tennyson (Cornell University), Gene Lai (Washington State University), Christopher Parsons (City University, London), Patrick Brockett (University of Texas-Austin), Richard MacMinn (Illinois State University), David Cummins (Temple University), Mary Weiss (Temple University), Jan Dhaene (KU Leuven), Georges Dionne (HEC Montréal), Christian Gollier (Toulouse School of Economics), Mark Browne (St. John’s University), David Babbel (University of Pennsylvania), Andreas Richter (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München), Patricia Born (Florida State University), Olivia Mitchell (University of Pennsylvania), Paul Embrechts (ETH Zurich) , David Blake (City University London) , Shaun Shuxun Wang (Nanyang Technological University), Richard D. MacMinn (University of Texas), ZHUO Zhi (Southwestern University of Finance and Economic), Phelim P. Boyle (Wilfrid Laurier University) and Mary Hardy (University of Waterloo).

 

The CICIRM’s conference proceedings have been accepted for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) since 2011. The proceedings of CICIRM 2020/2021 will continue to be published by Tsinghua University Press and submitted for indexing CNKI and evaluation and potential indexing by CPCI.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The conference will cover topics related to insurance, risk management and actuarial science. Research related to specific aspects of Chinese markets and government programs is especially welcome and parallel sessions will be organized in both English and Chinese.

Topics for submission can include:

  • Insurance Economics
  • Theory and Practice of Risk Management
  • Property and Liability Insurance
  • Life and Health Insurance
  • Pension and Social Security
  • Actuarial Science
  • Behavioral Insurance

 

Abstract Submission

Abstracts can be submitted in either English or English-Chinese bilingual. All abstracts should be submitted electronically as a file attachment in Word (.doc) format and formatted using the conference abstract template.

The scientific quality of all submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Program Committee on the basis of the following three criteria: novelty of the research, significance of the findings, and clarity of writing. The conference participants whose abstracts are accepted will be encouraged to contribute oral presentations in English.

We will inform the abstract submitter about the acceptance of submitted abstracts by email. Please contact us via email ccirm@sem.tsinghua.edu.cn< if you have not received your email notification by April 30, 2021. The abstract submitter is responsible for informing all co-authors about the status of the abstract.

 

Oral Presentations

Oral presentation will be 30 minutes long and consist of a 20 minute talk followed by 6 minutes for discussion and 4 minutes for clarification questions from the audience and presenter change over.

Please note that time slots for oral presentations are limited and therefore oral presentations will be assigned on a competitive basis.

 

Full Paper Submission

Full paper submissions are accepted in English or Chinese, but all full papers submitted must have a title, an abstract, keywords, all authors’ contact information (including full first given names, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses), and references in English. All full papers must be submitted electronically as a file attachment in Word (.doc) format and formatted using the conference full paper template.

All submitted full papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee. Accepted papers will be considered for publication after the conference. At least one author per paper is required to register and attend the conference to present the paper if accepted for publication. We will inform the paper submitter about the acceptance of submitted paper by email. Please contact us via email to ccirm@sem.tsinghua.edu.cn if you have not received your email notification by September 1, 2021. The full paper submitter is responsible for informing all co-authors about the status of the paper.
